Joy is Everywhere

Near Jama Masjid, India

These two spirited kids were running hand-in-hand through the streets of this polluted outdoor market near a mosque in Jama Masjid. They were oblivious to the poverty and hardship around them, content in their joy and friendship. Their naïve, positive spirit was incredibly noticeable and uplifting as they ran happily through the market.

As I started photographing them, they became very cautious and asked us not to “steal them.” They went on to explain that they did not mean to do anything wrong. The children here are a beacon of hope in the middle of this poverty stricken area and a gentle reminder that anything is possible.
